What Dhanteras is

Dhanteras, or Dhantrayodashi, opens the five days of Diwali. That evening families buy something new of metal for the home, a brass or copper vessel, a gold or silver coin, and in many homes a handful of coriander seeds, and light a diya at the door after dusk. It is a day for good health as well as wealth: Dhanvantari, held to be the god of Ayurveda, is remembered on it too.

Put your own name on the card

Kalash, the Dhanteras card, engraves your name on a new brass kalash heaped with gold coins, the way a vessel shop engraves a family's name on a new vessel.

Pital: engraved on brass, on a red cloth.
The name the Sharma family engraved on a copper kalash, close up
Tamba: on copper, on peacock blue.
The name the Sharma family engraved on a pale bell-metal kalash, close up
Kansa: on pale bell metal, on mehendi green.
The name the Sharma family engraved on a silver kalash, close up
Chandi: on silver, on midnight blue.

When your guest opens the link, three coins drop into the kalash, the diya's light runs along your name, and a glint crosses the brass.

Made in a minute

  1. Type your name and choose a design. Type your name as it should read: your family ("The Sharma family"), your own name, or your business, with "From" before it or not. Then choose a design and a colour; every card shows your name.
  2. Keep our message or write your own, in English, Hindi or Hinglish. The card's greeting follows its language: "Happy Dhanteras" or "शुभ धनतेरस". Add a family photo or your business logo if you like, a phone number for a business, and whether the card shows how often it has been opened.
  3. Create and send it. You sign in once, with an email code or Google, so only you can delete it later. Then send the card's link on WhatsApp, and post its pictures to your status or stories.

  • A phone number, if you add one, goes under the message.
  • One link for every customer: send the same link to all of them.
